To distress or not to distress?

Hi everyone!  A very quick one from me tonight to post the card I made for this week's Michelle Perkett Studio's challenge to use die cuts.  I had to rush this card because I couldn't decide if I wanted to do one of my clean cut bright cards or to practice one of my less used techniques of vintage style.  I decided to be brave and do a vintage card but it took me aaages because it's just not my natural style!  Anyway, here it is....

I think the text needs to be bigger!  Hey ho.  I used the Put On Your Party Dress digi by MPS and the papers are from a Prima design pad that I won from The Scrapbook Garden's April giveaway - lucky me!  They have a new blog candy giveaway for May/June - you can enter it here so give it a chance!

I used the Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch and I am also entering it into the following challenges:

Paper/cardstock: Bazzill bling cardstock, Prima Magnolia paper pad
Stamps: MPS Put On Your Party Dress digi
Mediums: Aqua ProMarkers, Distress Inks in Antique Linen
Accents: Stampin Up ribbon (ordered from Nic, The Sticky Elf, here), Prima Magnolia flowers, 8mm flat backed pearls (from Quixotic Paperie here)
Tools: Nestabilities dies, Magnolia border and leaf dies (I get mine from Bunny Zoe's Crafts here), Tim Holtz Distressing Tool

  2. Hi Mary, dead easy question, I'd always go for the distressed look, in my opinion that adds so much more interest to a card. So needless to say I just love this one, great job hun!! Hugs, Frea

  25. Hi Mary, I love your card, I adore your colours and thats a great image. I know what you mean out of your comfort zone mine would have to be distressing and browns. I feel that if I distress my card look untidy. I just love your card very pretty and girlie. Thanks so much for sharing your card with us at Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week.

  33. Hello Mary
It is also very Shabby Chic as well as looking Vintage, can I suggest you place your text on a narrow long Tag 3D and place it exactly where you have it, or even on a slight angle, if you are not happy with how it looks at the moment,it is a lovely card.
    Smiles:)
