Quick cheat fishtail banner tute!

Hi everyone!  Mary J here with a CAS style card after my recent experimenting with messy mixed media!  What do you think...

I am so in love with the Some Odd Girls clear stamp sets and for my card I used Gwen In Bloom, matched up with My Minds Eye Darling Dear.

And have you noticed how fashionable the fishtail banners have become?  Well, if you don't have any of the dies, here is a quick tip just using a square punch.  First of all, I use a pencil to place a dot where I want the centre (sometimes I don't bother if I want a less perfect look)...

Then holding the punch upside down, I slip the paper in and line the dot up with a corner (you can just about see the dot in the photo!)...

Then punch!  Voila!

Thank you to my lovely husband who took the photos for me, what a doll he is.  Okay, I'm off to do more decorating!  Thanks for visiting and have a fab weekend!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

  5. Hello Mary
Love the embossed Bg on this card, your title should be; 'these boots are made for walking'!!! She looks wonderful.
I hope you are going to venture into more mixed media, and it was not just a sortie.

  7. Love it Mary, so striking! Great tip on the banner, even though I haven't got a square punch, I always use the point technique but then cut away diagonally with a craft knife and a ruler. Works too, but not as fast of course :) Good luck with the decorating!

  10. What/whose embossing folder did you use for that great stitched-look diagonal background? Very effective, esp on the white textured cardstock--really made the plaid banner pop. Thanks for the tip on the punch!
