Follow your heart - it knows the way

What a great saying, huh? I got the freebie sentiment set when I bought during Stampin' Up's sale-a-bration. I wanted to make a card for one of my dear friends who is going through a divorce at the moment - they're never smooth sailing. I wanted to let her know I'm thinking of her as we live far apart from each other. It's my sort of virtual hug to her.

I used challenges to get some inspiration and I ended up making three cards! The first is for Picture Perfect Creations challenge - Megan left me a lovely comment against one of my blog entries and thought I'd return the compliment by joining in with her very first challenge. Here's the card with the challenge below...

The second and third cards are for Moxie Fab World's Trigger Tuesday challenge, using bright yellow and red based on the picture below...

I'm getting brave with those bright colours now! I tried using them before but my cards always looked like a 3 year old had made them! I think the trick is to use top quality materials in achieving a professional finish. I shaped teh butterfly wings and used foam pads under the yellow matt to keep the cards from looking too plain. And don't ask me how I got the ribbons to twist that way - total fluke, not my skills in ribbon tying!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

First card:
Papers/cardstock: Bazzill kraft and other cardstock, BasicGrey Wisteria paper pad
Mediums: Brilliance ink pad
Stamps: Stampin Up Whimsical Words
Accents: ribbon and gems from stash
Tools: EK Success butterfly punches

Second cards:
Papers/cardstock: Papermania linen white cardstock, Bazzill red and yello cardstock
Mediums: Versafine blank ink
Stamps: Stampin Up Whimsical Words
Accents: Bazzill ribbon, Papermania pearls
Tools: Fiskars effervescent border punch, Fiskars Lacy Days of Summer border punch

What great cards, I love the butterfly one and your friend is lucky that she has you for support.
I Know only too well what divorce is like - all i can say is she will get through it, even if it feels like it is an uphill struggle at the moment.
Its not nice for anyone even if its quite amicable.
Your card should put a smile on her face and its lovely to know someone is thinking about you

No snow here today, but really cold. We saw lots yesterday on the M62 on the high ground.
Not had the day i expected today. My daughter and i were just setting out for the day when she was sick. She has had a terrible day. So is just snuggled up on the sofa watching tv. She is supposed to be starting a little job tomorrow as a waitress in a little cafe , but it looks like she wont be going.
Hope your day has gone well... and thnaks for the tip re visiting Pink petticoat.
ps... am wanting ideas for a wedding card - the wedding theme is vintage 1940's/50's. I haven't a clue what to do. Its for my mum to send and i am really struggling.
Any suggestions welcome lol

I love the cards. They are lovely and I am sure your friend will appreciate it a lot.

I would never have put those colors together on my own but you did a wonderful job on the challenges. They due push you a bit huh? I just did one and I think I failed. I don't know the rules of these things. Can you add brown when there is only 3 colors? Wish someone would tell me so I don't look stupid. LOL What if you have a color paper that has those colors and one more in it. Would that be wrong?
Have a wonderful week Mary J. I will be making cards today. Just a me day to play.

Hi Mary, I really appreciate you stopping by my blog!

I just wanted to tell you that I think your cards are fabulous! I love how you took one sentiment and were able to make three great (and different) cards from it! I really think the patterned paper in your first card was made for this color challenge! :)
