Smooch!

Phew! I managed to make my hubby's Valentine's card at last. He doesn't really appreciate cards (let along handmade ones!) and he's not the romantic type either so I always struggle to make him cards! He does have a great sense of humour though so I thought I'd do something less soppy and more in keeping for what I like getting from him - kisses!

As I always find it so hard to make cards with clean lines (always look so unprofessional!), I decided to use a lot of texture - clear embossing powder on the dotted side border, embossed black matting, white linen cardstock for the background and hearts AND used Diamond Glaze on the lips. And of course my fav foam pads behind the heart in the foreground and the lips. This card took me ages!
I am entering this card into three challenges this week. Firstly, Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #60 (which I didn't think I'd be able to manage as it looked so difficult!)...

Secondly, Crazy for Challenges #23 "Be My Valentine" and, lastly, By the Cute and Girly February challenge to make a card themed around "love" (just found this blog!).

Papers/cardstock: Papermania white linen cardstock, red and black smooth cardstock, red foam sheet
Mediums: Versamagic Red Magic ink, Versamark ink, clear embossing powder, Diamond Glaze (on lips)
Stamps: Inca lips, Hero Arts dots background stamp
Accents: Stampin' Up ribbon
Tools: Woodware heart punch, Cuttlebug houndstooth embossing folder, Quickutz Neat Freak alphabet dies, Wizard die cutter

I am not so clever Mary - if you notice 2 of the challenges had the same theme lol ( crafty eh, in more ways than 1 !)
Your card is stunning, and i don't care what you say i think it does look professional.!!
I think your hubbie will love it.Its perfect for a man - no fuss, but sexy and fun.
I hope he has got you a card ( or he may even surprise you and pinch some of your stash)- my friends husband gets me to make hers as she is also a crafter. He once asked her to make her own lol ( men eh!!)
I hope you have a fabulous Valentines weekend whatever you do.
Thank you for adding me to your side bar. I feel i am making some lovely friends in the cardmaking/crafting world and enjoy keeping in touch and seeing all their latest creations.Plus they all leave me lovely comments too.

This is super cute! I'm glad you used black on your huband's card too. Doesn't make me feel so bad that I used black on mine too. Happy V-day!!

Hi Mary

Oh this is gorgeous and those clean line you wrote about were definitely acheived! I love it and I am sure your husband will too!

My husband is the same as yours, whilst he can look at my cards and say he likes them (more often than not though it is a grunt LOL) he doesn't really appreciate them! Mind you he does big my cards up to his friends and I have made a few for them which he says he is really proud of!! Men eh!!!

Anyway, thanks again for your lovely comment on my card it really boosts my confidence as a crafter ;-)

Take care and have yourself a smoochy weekend...

I love it Mary!! And what are you talking about? These clean lines look AWESOME!! All of the texture is fantastic and I think you pulled the whole thing together fabulously!! I especially like the hearts in place of the "o"s in "smooch" - so clever!!
