Puppy love

It's Friday!  And that means it's Bellarific Friday time and this week we had a sketch to follow.  Here is my Bellarific Babe card take on it...

Awww, doesn't this image just make you want to grab the person next to you and give them a cuddle?!!  Go on, you know you want to!!  This is Frankie and Fiona by Tiddly Inks for Stamping Bella.  I used Dovecraft Princess Fairytale papers and created a window with my Nesties.  I simply finished it off with a rolled rose in the corner with a pearl popped in it.  Is it too plain, do you think?  I think it needs something else but I don't know what!  I am entering this card into the Simon Says anything goes challenge.

The next challenge is the theme "sisters or friends" - well, this is too easy!  I make these all the time and I hope you can join us too!  Email your creations to Em by next Thursday 6 June for a chance to win $20 Bella Bucks (either by submitting a project or simply commenting on next week's Bellarific Friday post)!  ttfn!

TSG ABC Friday: wine bottle tag

It's Friday which means it's the end of another working week for me and I'm happy!  And what I really look forward to on a Friday after work is a large glass of wine!  And happily my friends also like to share a bottle with me so I decided to get a bottle of champers to share with one of them and I made this wine bottle tag to present it with...

Mmmmmm, I am going to be popular!  Here's a close up because that photo is not great...

I love this retro mama!  She is from the Domestic Goddess set by illustrator Pien DaPino and it's perfect for those fun cards us women like to laugh at!  I used a variety of Pink Petticoat papers and a large scallop border die by My Favorite Things.  I am entering this card into the Simon Says anything goes challenge.

Okay, well I'm off to enjoy this bottle with my friend - I hope you have a lovely evening planned too.  I'll be back tomorrow with Stampbook Saturday!

Wednesdays Trends: using negative die cuts

(Please scroll down for my All That Scraps DT post!)

Hi everyone, it's Mary J here with this week's Wednesday trends.  Today I want to show you ways to use the "negative" pieces from die cutting.  I've been using this technique more and more recently as I love my dies but wanted to get more out of them.  You may want to get a cup of tea and settle in as I have a few examples to show you!

So, first up is this very simple form of this technique...

You know, I think this is one of my most favourite images EVER!  This cheeky monkey is from the Jungle Out There set by illustrator Melyssa Connolly.  As you can see, I simply lined up a couple of die clouds using low tack tape on a piece of white cardstock, put it through my die cutting machine and then popped it on foam pads over some blue patterned paper for extra depth.  I then layered a couple more cloud die cuts to create a bit more interest.  I am entering this card into the Simon Says anything goes challenge.

Now on my second card (using the same Jungle Out There set) I did a similar thing but I first die cut the label, used a wood grain stamp on it and then die cut the leaves.  The trick here is to keep the die as simple as possible otherwise intricate die cuts can get "lost" in the patterns.

So I have one more example to show you.  This time I used the beautiful Blossom By Blossom set by illustrator Torico.  I die cut a large flower from a piece of white cardstock and then ran it through my machine with an embossing folder to create more interest...

Well I hope I have inspired you to try this technique to get more from your dies.  If you have any other way you use this technique, please leave me a comment here with a link to your project as I would love to see it!  See you tomorrow with my Bellarific Babe card - ttfn!

Thanks for the lift

It's time to review the All That Scraps Sweet November May release and here is my make...

I really enjoyed making this little scene!  I used Sweet November Fairwee Emaline's Hot Air Balloon, C.C. Cutters Grass Border Die and  C.C. Cutters Four Season Tree Die.  a sentiment from the AmyR Stamps Sunny Sentiments set.  You can check out more cute Sweet November inspiration over at the blog here.

Paddling in my pool

It's time for some Tuesday Inspiration over at By Lori Designs!  Summer is just around the corner (although I am still waiting for our Spring!) so what better way to get ready for the pool than a summery card?

This is Lollipop Baby Pool Sam - isn't he a darling?!  So cute!  I matched him up with Echo Park paper and added some clouds because we don't really get clear blue skies in the UK!

Okay, check out more Tuesday Inspiration over at the blog here!

You make me smile

It's with sadness today that I write this post.  I have been on Elaine's design team for Quixotic Paperie for 2 and a half years but I have now decided to step down from this fab team.  :(  A big thank you to Elaine for having me on board - not only have I loved playing with the gorgeous stash, it's been a privilege to have made friends with such a kind, sweet, funny person too.  I will miss the team too - big waves to Sandie and Delphine!

So, for my last Quixotic Inspiration project I have made this card...

I love this wistful, sweet monster!  This is SCACD Oddly Sweet Moments and you can either buy him here or in a the set here.  I stamped him on my favourite Make It Colour blending cardstock and then coloured him in with my Copics and used my MFT Die-Namics - Fishtail Flags STAX to layer the papers.  The papers are by Design By Dani called I Like I Love You.

Okay, well I am off for now for the very last time for Quixotic Inspirations!  Thanks for visiting and I'll check you out later on my blog rounds - ttfn!

How arrr you doing?

Hello peeps!  It's Monday so that means a new There She Goes challenge and this week I got to set it!  In fact, I am the featured Trendsetter this week so I hope you will visit me to see what I get up to - anything but a card, showcasing a trend and even my very first ever scrapbook page!!!

But back today and I set the challenge of "circles" - those of you who know me won't be surprised!  So here is my circle card but you don't have to make one of these - just as long as there's something circle on your make.  And don't forget you don't even have to use a TSG stamp for our challenges but we love it when you do!

Isn't he fun?  This fab fella is from the Shiver Me Timbers set along with that sentiment.  I'm sure he would have very hairy armpits too, don't cha think?!  I matched him up with October Afternoon Seaside papers and a sun made from a flower punch.

Check out more fab circle inspiration over at the blog here!  I'll see you later on my blog rounds - ttfn!

Hey

Morning!  The sun is shining in the UK albeit it being chilly still but I am stuck in the house because my cold won't shift!  Bleh.  Hopefully I will feel good enough to venture out of the house on the Bank Holiday tomorrow!

I am here today with my Bellarific Babe card using the sweet Arthur from the Tiddly Inks Annie and Arthur duo stamp set...

I coloured him in with Copics on kraft cardstock - I love this technique but it sure drinks the ink!!  I used October Afternoon Report Card papers and alpha stickers and finished off with a simple button - cos boys don't tend to like much else!

Okay, I gotta go now but I'll be back tomorrow with my There She Goes DT post!

Floating high above the clouds!

Hi all!  I'm here today with a card using one of the more "classic" digis in the Whimsie Doodle store called Birthday Turtle...

Isn't he adorable?!  I think he's perfect for any guy but I must try him out for a girlie look too!  I matched him up with Echo Park Little Boy papers and simple die cut some clouds from a piece of white cardstock and layered on foam pads above the blue spotting paper for depth.

Well, I hope you like my little turtle as much as I do!  See you tomorrow with my next Bellarific Babe card!

Window gazing

(Please scroll down for my two There She Goes DT posts!)

It's Bellarific Friday and this week we were challenged to be inspired by a photo so here is my take on it...

I'm not sure how I feel about this card - it doesn't look anything like I originally planned!  I think it's pretty enough though, I mean how could you go wrong with such a fab stamp?!  This is Uptown Girl Winnie Peeking Out The Window (it does what it says on the can!) and I matched her up with Zoe Pearn Sugar Baby papers and some Doodblebug polka dot organza ribbon.  I am entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp challenge for flowers.

The next challenge is to be inspired by the sketch below...

Email your creations to Em by next Thursday 30 May for a chance to win $20 Bella Bucks (either by submitting a project or simply commenting on next week's Bellarific Friday post)!
