Day 3 of the Lil' Inker Designs new release hop!

It's the last day of the new Lil' Inker Designs release showcasing new stamp sets and matching dies with a blog hop!  Here is my card using the new Circles and Diamonds stamp set that works with the matching Circles and Diamonds stitched die and the Connected Circle die...

I love how this came out - it's quite a different style for me!  I used various VersaMagic inks and my ColorBox Frost White ink.  I also used the Stitched Square Mat for the layering and teeny tiny heart and flat backed iridescent pearls randomly so it didn't look too flat.  I used Sahlin Studio papers for the card base.  I am entering my card into the Simon Says Stamp anything goes challenge.

Back to the hop - make sure you comment as you hop long - the more you comment, the better your chance of winning!  We'll be giving away prizes for two $10 store credits! You should have come here from sweet Jen Carter and you now need to hop off to the lovely Jen del Muro.  You'll then want to pop off to the store here to see all of the new goodies!

Day 1 of the Lil' Inker Designs new release hop!

It's time for a new Lil' Inker Designs release and we are going to showcase new stamp sets and matching dies over a three day blog hop!  And of course what's a blog hop without prizes?  Make sure you comment as you hop long - the more you comment, the better your chance of winning!  We'll be giving away prizes for two $10 store credits!  You'll definitely want to hop!

Before I  get onto my make, just wanted to announce the new designer to our team - Suzanne Dahlberg of The Card Yard!  Welcome Suzanne - you are a fab edition to our team!

For my first project today, here is my card using the new Circles and Diamonds stamp set that works with the matching dies...

I loved playing around this set!  It's so satisfying creating your own background rather than rely on designer papers.  I used various VersaMagic inks - these give such a gorgeous chalky look and it's so opaque too.  For the white I used ColorBox Frost White which I think is the best opaque ink out there!  I also used the Stitched Square Mat for the layering and a touch of twine to finish it off.

So back to the hop!  You should have come here from sweet Jen Carter and you now need to hop off to the lovely Sarah Jay.  You'll then want to pop off to the store here to see all of the new goodies!

See you tomorrow with day 2 of our hop!

Recycling time over at Take the Pixie challenge!

(Please scroll down for my Quixotic Inspirations DT post!)

It's Thursday which means today I am Pixie Mary J!  I love being on this team so I can call myself that - yes, sad I know!  Anyhoo, it also means a new challenge at the Take the Pixie Challenge and this week we are challenging you to...
Recycle!

So do some searching and find something you have laying around in your home to recycle!!  I found some fabric swatches (rather a lot actually!) that I got years ago when we were buying a new sofa (and no I didn't choose it!) - I used on my make for the matting...

Isn't this lady beautiful?!  She is called the Meadow Princess and I just love those delicate flowers in her hair and her leafy dress!  And I bet she has pointy ears under those gorgeous flowing locks!!  (I just know I was an elf in another life!!)

I hope you can join in with us this week - the other DT creations are wonderful and you can see them all here!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Paper/cardstock: Bazzill cardstock, My Minds Eye Life of the Party paper pad
Stamps: Pixie Dust Studios Meadow Princess (scroll down to the bottom of the page to find her!)
Mediums: Copics, Colorbox white chalk ink
Accents: ribbon from stash, beads (from Quixotic Paperie here)

Make It Monday sponsored by Platypus Creek Stamping & Craft

It's Make It Monday - yay!!!  And this week we are being sponsored by Platypus Creek Stamping and Crafts and I created a card with their Daisy that I coloured with my Copics on watercolour paper to get a more rustic feel and matched the image up with papers from the BasicGrey Origins paper pack (from Quixotic Paperie here)...

You can never have enough thank you cards, right?!  I thought the flower would look really pretty framing a sentiment - I'm really pleased how it turned out!

The lucky winner from this week will win a [AUS]$20 gift voucher to either Platypus Creek Stamps or Platypus Digitals - shame I can't enter!!

And for my favourite this week, I have chosen this uber uber sweet card by Larissa....

Two new tecniques for me

Yay, I managed to make two more cards this morning! (Thanks to the puppy waking me up at 6am. Hhhmmm.) I thought I would try two new techniques for me. The first is a CAS (clean and simple) style. I was inspired by Carly Robertson of Paper In Bloom. I love this fabulous lady's style - she is so versatile, from CAS to contemporary to shabby chic - she can do them all brilliantly! Very jealous.... Her main style is CAS which I always find difficult - normally looks so unprofessional but I think this one came out ok! I used a subtle Colorbox chalk ink to stamp the heart border - so subtle you can barely see it! Ha ha!

For this second one, I made my own "brad looking" flower centre. I picked up this technique on Saturday when I made a visit to The Glitter Pot where they had a day of demonstrators, one of them being Paula Pascual. Seeing the "brad" on one of her cards, I thought she had used that new I-Top brad making tool - I've been considering buying one but just can't justify a new toy. Anyway, she hadn't used that and instead created it with just two things that require no extra investment! All you need to do is cut/punch out a circle from light weight card and use a rounded end (I use the end of a pen but you can buy flower making special tools for it - of course!) to shape the reverse side using small circular motions does that make sense?!). You then use silicone glue or foam pads to stick it on. Because it creates small creases around the edges, the brad looks like it's been made from fabric - it's a really lovely effect. Thank you Paula!

I used the most recent Mercy's Tuesday sketch below (which of course I missed the deadline again!) for both cards and I am also entering the second one in the Crafty Sentiments challenge to use punches.

Papers/cardstock: Bazzill cardstock, My Minds Eye Be Loved pack
Stamps: CC Designs Ladybug Nora and Field Fence, The English Stamp Company (heart border)
Mediums: Copic Caios, glitter glue (on wings), Colorbox chalk ink (heart border)
Accents: ribbon from stash
Tools: Woodware flower punch and 1" circle punch, EK Success 1.25" scallop circle punch
